Did you know that the official count for the number of people at the Ellipse for Trump’s “wild” Rally Speech was 2.4 billion people? Yes, one out of every four people on earth was there, or something very very close to that. We are sure that Trump would agree.

Let’s breathe in the symmetry a bit. Trump’s first absolute, easy to prove, lie as president was about the crowd size at his inauguration, and – to this day, over a year after his presidency, he’s talking crowd size, and not getting credit for it, just the one at the end of his presidency. (As an aside, if Trump is admitting that he’s the one who brought all these people to Washington, isn’t he admitting he caused the riot that he watched on television and thought was cool?)

Instead of doing a press conference on January 6th (like he wanted), Trump did a pre-taped interview on OAN, in which he ranted that no one talks about the crowd size, the largest he ever spoke in front of.

CNN’s Jim Acosta and John Avlon have the entire situation figured out. Trump’s “problematic” brain prior to the election simply broke after he lost:

ACOSTA

“John, I’ve said this before. I think his brain is broke[n]. There’s no other description for when he says these things. He has this Pavlovian way of — he has to talk about crowd sizes in the most inappropriate situations. I don’t understand why he would even — it’s just sick.”

AVLON

“Sure, you do! It’s because it’s all about Trump and his ego, which is simultaneously massive and fragile, so he wants to measure it. It’s all about size for him. So, he’s got to get some kind of interrogate interrogator who fluffs him up. It’s just his own pathetic, incredible, fragile ego.”

And HOOVER:

“I think you’re right. I think the conservative media ecosystem has created these deep, dark siloes where people were able to create the big lie and in some ways radicalize. They really believe a lie and they go darker and darker and deeper and deeper down those rabbit holes…

Yes, of course, all of this is true and we know why. Yes, it starts with Trump’s broken brain and huge but fragile ego. But from there it goes to the cult that cannot get enough of this. Therefore, there is so much money to be made that it’s near impossible to resist. People that cater to the Right can make a lot of money.

People that report and comment on the news for the left can sleep at night, just with less money.
