This is an extremely difficult topic.

On the one hand, we’ve already had a year pass since 1/6, and the only prosecutions, the only investigations, of which we know are of the window breakers and yes, some who were vi0lent with the police. But that is it. A natural response would be, “Yes, but you won’t “see” the investigation…” and that is largely true. We would not see the investigation of the people high up.

But we could and should expect indictments of the lower level organizers by now (provided they were investigated and found to have played a role in a criminal plan), the people that provided money, perhaps organizers on Capitol Hill, the ones with the bull horns (why?) and pepper spray (why?). The ones that are supposed to talk.

Much more disturbingly, it isn’t just we in the media and public that haven’t seen the initial products of an investigation, nor has Adam Schiff, who isn’t happy with Merrick Garland and his pace or lack of investigation into January 6th. One would think that if anyone in Congress would know of an investigation, it would be Adam Schiff.

The White House Counsel during Watergate, the one that went to prison, turned good guy, John Dean says do not worry. He is 10x a better lawyer than anyone here at this site and far more experienced. Still, it is hard to believe he is right. In his message today, Dean said:

To not charge ALL involved in planning, aiding, abetting, and conspiring regarding the 1/6 insurrection, and now covering it up, would be the historical equivalent of ONLY PROSECUTING THE FIVE MEN ARRESTED on 06.17.72 at the DNC’s Watergate offices trying to bug the place.

True. And that’s what we’ve seen so far.

It took 928 days to hold ALL the KEY players responsible for Watergate with the convictions of Nixon’s former attorney general, chief-of-staff, and top assistant on 01.01.1975. The 1/6 investigation is early. DOJ will give NO PASSES for the democracy harming crimes of 1/6.

Evidence against the key players in Watergate was not in front of people’s faces from day one of Watergate. It has been here.

The 1/6 investigations are moving faster than Watergate. Mid-term 2022 elections will not change the focus of DOJ. The 2024 election will not change DOJ’s actions. 1/6 is FAR FROM OVER — of that I am certain. To think otherwise is to misunderstand the career lawyers at DOJ!

First, how does he know they are moving faster? Two, the 2024 election will not impact the investigation? Has he ever heard of Donald Trump and who Trump would pick as A.G?

Criminal accountability for 1/6 is a BFD at DOJ. How do we know? It is America’s first former POTUS insurrection! It is the biggest investigation in DOJ’s history. If they don’t get it right the USA is finished. Criminal investigations aren’t televised. THEY’LL GET IT RIGHT.

Exactly. So why have we not had a press conference from DOJ announcing that they’re committed to getting to the bottom of Jan. 6th, nor seen a lackey non-rioter even searched/subpoenaed?

I trust the DOJ, and I’m neither naïve nor untutored. Unlike any time in DOJ’s history they literally carry the fate of the nation. Let them do their job. Meanwhile, good wishes for the New Year.

They have not even arrested Rudy yet and Rudy committed fairly obvious crimes. They have not arrested Gaetz yet and…

We hope he’s right, but have a sense that he’s seen a generation pass.
