Twitter is always a little tough to figure out because everything that appears on one’s timeline or thread, reflects the people you follow and your interests. We try to follow a lot of Republicans, but it’s mostly the politicians, just to read what they’re saying, but we don’t follow the average MAGA head that lives in Sioux City or Decatur.
Thus it is that when one sees “Jesus and Trump” trending high on Twitter, it’s almost certainly something that started on the right, pledging loyalty to both of them (and maybe not in that order), but then we see what happens when the left sees it appearing as a trend.
And that’s when the fun begins, even though – especially this week, there’s really nothing funny about Donald Trump. But there’s nothing wrong with taking a break and a peek at some of the better responses posted.
There are some responsible and serious ones:

Jesus and trump are trending because the two couldn't be more different in every possible way.

Except you can’t love Jesus and Trump. Pick one. pic.twitter.com/KUt1rHzu87

All the above get at an incredible truth that demonstrates one thing with utter clarity. It is about being white. Evangelical Christians worship in segregated churches. (Most other churches, including even most Catholic ones, are mixed). It is about the belief that the white man is preordained by God to rule over the state just as the man is the head of the family. That and the grift, it’s the only overlap in that support system.
You use Jesus and Trump in the same sentence and it's not: Trump? Jesus Christ.

The above one is just so sacrilegious it’s awful and yet it’s also hilarious and perhaps hiding a deeper truth. Many of us are absolutely convinced there’s an afterlife and do not believe Trump will do well.
Jesus and Trump. How about Satan and Trump? pic.twitter.com/kODgnMT7Vb

Jesus would not appreciate people who talk about Jesus and Trump in the same breath. Exception: tweets like this https://t.co/A1q65ZNphv

I don't know why "Jesus and Trump" is trending, but here's that time Trump was asked if he's ever asked God for forgiveness for anything, ever, and he painfully tried to avoid the question, then said no he hasn't. pic.twitter.com/kG5G4xs4hM

Perfection. Trump admits that no, he hasn’t. “IF I do something wrong, I just try to make it right. I don’t try to bring God into that picture.” This was just after saying he’s a Christian, that sentence admits he’s not.

Above. This country was never mature enough to have a president like Jimmy Carter.
Republican Jesus and Trump both steal money from Evangelicals.
