If there is one thing we know about Jesus (Whether one considers him the son of God or just a very enlightened man), it is that he really didn’t have time for the poor, the sick, the old, very young, hungry, all that. If you read the Gospels, especially John, you’ll see that Jesus spent most of his time discussing policy with the power-brokers at the time, ensuring that the world remained more than fair for the people who had always been powerful.
Jesus was the ultimate conservative lobbyist with a nice office near the Temple.
Now one would argue that. At least, if you listen to Franklin Graham, that would seem to be the Jesus he “follows” (he’s obviously never read about him). JoeMyGod.com cites Graham’s Facebook page:
The U.S. Senate returns to session today and Democrats have said two of their highest priorities are pushing President Biden’s climate/social spending bill and working on “voting rights” legislation.
These are both extremely important issues that can greatly affect our nation. Let’s start the new year off praying for these elected leaders.
Join me in praying for members of our Congress, in both political parties, that God will give them wisdom and direct the decisions they make that impact all of our lives, families, and futures.
Right. The guy whose advice to rich people was “Give all you own to the poor and follow me” will certainly be “praying” right now to cut down a social spending bill. Someone has to pay for that stuff! And you know who the Democrats are always wanting to tax, right? The rich! Jesus would abhor these Democrats.
As for voting rights, well, Jesus’s ministry makes clear that the poor and downtrodden’s voices don’t matter.
Climate change? Something tells us that Jesus might be a little angry at all of us for refusing to “inconvenience ourselves” and do something about it (Some of us are guilty, too – making plenty of extra car trips that were unnecessary, perhaps too little advocacy).
Anyway, we thought we’d drop this off for Franklin because he seems unfamiliar with it:

Let us know how it goes, Franklin. You’ll have a hard time believing this, but there’s an entire book written about what Jesus said and did on Earth.
