“A portion of the proceeds will support children from the foster care community.”
Melania Trump, January 4th, 2022
PORTION:
“A part of the whole.”
Melania is selling stuff to the general public and, by most appearances, Melania is settling into a lifetime of charitable work. After all, today she announced she is selling three items, one of which is the “Iconic” (Her word) white hat she wore while meeting French President Emmanuel Macron, and it will be autographed. (We are not sure if that’s a good idea. Sometimes serious collectors of goods like this want them “as is,” and not autographed.)
See us below:

We guess it’s a “nice hat.” Iconic might be a stretch, but who really knows what the MAGAs obsess over and it’s possible they’ve been talking about it as such since the day she wore it.
And if you want this hat, bid start at a cool $250,000. That’s a lot of money.
NEW: @MELANIATRUMP to auction the white hat she wore in 2018. Plus a new NFT of her wearing the hat. The opening bid: $250,000.

But forgive this site if we’re a little bit skeptical here. For one – and this would be plenty on its own – the Trumps don’t have a good record when it comes to charity. Indeed, giving money away seems to go against everything the Trumps believe in.
Second, as everyone will surely ask, why a “portion”? If you saw an announcement like this from a wealthy woman, doesn’t it sound far more natural to hear, “the proceeds from which will be used to support children in foster care”? Why is Mel hiding the amount she’s giving away? Not even a “majority” of the proceeds…
That’s not Mel’s “style,” so to speak:

It is “one of a kind.” No one else wore Melania’s White Hat that day to meet Macron. But the hat kinda looks a lot like one could get at Macy’s for $30 on any given day in April or May. We understand that Melania’s hat certainly isn’t from Macy’s – at least unlikely – and worth much more than $30, but I guess we will soon find out how much it’s worth.
Or not. She is making clear that it’s not all going to charity. And the #NFT hashtag… Melania’s decided to get in on the grifting, perhaps before stuff is devalued by criminal indictments.

Sure, the chick who wore a “I really don’t care do u” jacket when she “visited” the children separated from their families at the border, really cares about foster kids.

“A portion” goes to charity? Wtf. Did Donald cut off her allowance? https://t.co/dDlzyUWIgE

One has to wonder. Maybe there isn’t as much allowance to go around these days. It is tacky. It should read “all proceeds,” because as it reads, it’s “I’m in this for the money.”
