January 6, 2021, was a very big deal. A lot of us kept telling our kids (home because of COVID) to put their school work down and watch, “This is your 9-11,” just an attack on our government. Anyone who doubts that it was that big a deal need only go to the tape.

We are talking about the tape (video) of the Republican/MAGAs last year on January 7th, 8th, 9th… for about two to three weeks, until they figured out they had an impeachment that they sort of had to defend. After all, their voters weren’t as offended as they were and their voters didn’t want Trump impeached.

So they had to switch their tune, just a bit. But they still weren’t proud. Seven Republicans in the Senate voted to convict. Some that did not, like McConnell, stood up and said it was unforgivable anyway and that McConnell expected it to be thoroughly investigated by law enforcement.

McConnell didn’t “imply” he thought that the FBI should investigate Trump (he was speaking specifically about Trump because it was right after the impeachment vote). McConnell specifically said it needed a criminal investigation. He wanted one.

To be fair, McConnell has actually been slightly supportive of the Select Committee lately. But he and every other Republican voted against forming a bi-partisan special joint committee to investigate the matter.

So, over a year, we’ve seen the Republicans go from calling January 6th out for what it was, one of the American government’s most dangerous days since 1865, to just a thing that happened, a bunch of people upset that an election was stolen. So, upon further reflection, it’s actually about the most patriotic thing that could’ve happened.

That is the attitude Marco Rubio took in a tweet meant to own the libs; “What’s the big deal? C’mon.” (Paraphrased). And Adam Kinzinger promptly took Marco to school for a slap on the wrist.
