Yesterday, Mitch McConnell arrived at a deal with the Democrats that kept the country from defaulting by linking it to another bill. The agreement sent Trump into a frenzy in which he called out McConnell as “the Old Crow.”
“Mitch McConnell just folded on the Debt Ceiling, a total victory for the Democrats—didn’t use it to kill the $5 Trillion Dollar (real number!) Build Back Worse Bill that will essentially change the fabric of our Country forever. The Old Crow’s two-month extension, and the break up of the Bill into two parts, gave the Democrats everything they needed. The Dems would have folded completely if Mitch properly played his hand, and if not, the Debt Ceiling scenario would be far less destructive than the Bill that will get passed. He has all the cards to win, but not the “guts” to play them. Instead, he gives our Country away, just like he did with the two Senate seats in Georgia, and the Presidency itself. The Old Crow is a disaster!”
McConnell has yet to respond and yet Trump’s spokesperson, Liz Harrington, has already taken the war between the two to the next level, questioning which is worse, the fake media, or Mitch McConnell:
It's hard to say who gives Biden more cover to destroy our Country, the Fake News or Mitch McConnell? pic.twitter.com/egzX2p2XuT

It is delicious to keep in mind that it was the fight between Trump and McConnell that gave the Senate to the Democrats in the first place, by leaving two Georgia senate seats on the table. Trump still has plenty of “human wrecking-ball power” to keep the Senate in the Democrats’ hands by endorsing the least electable (but most loyal) people running.
A war between Trump and McConnell would be disastrous for the GOP’s chances in the senate in 2022, and it seems to be just warming up. We should never doubt that McConnell would give Trump up in 2024 any day if it meant that he could be the majority leader in either 2022 or 2024.
Not only is this very satisfying to watch, but it’s also extremely important because – strange though it may seem – cheering for Trump to “defeat” McConnell’s will in 2022 makes it that much more likely that the Democrats keep the Senate in 2022.
