Evidently, the average MAGA mind cannot access some of even the most elementary and general knowledge regarding how our society’s infrastructure functions.

Nine-five percent of Americans have some sort of vague knowledge about energy neither being created nor destroyed. But when it comes to real energy use and “how” we’re to shift to green energy, so much remains beyond their grasp. Liberals love the idea of “renewable energy,” meaning energy provided by the sun and Earth’s natural movement, solar, wind, tide, dams (sort of), and… “Other.” for very good reasons, they are clean and renewable.

Conservatives love the fact that they can tell idiots “What happens when the wind’s not blowin’ or the sun’s not shining?” And have their voters thinking we’re stumped.

They would probably believe us if we told them we stored it up for use later. But as you know, no, it doesn’t work that way. The only thing that stores power for the future is a battery and though we have better ones than ever before, anyone whose headlights have run out on a big heavy car battery knows we’re not running cities on batteries.

We need to be using about the same amount of energy all the time. And yes, there are times when the sun is not shining and the wind is not blowing, those are the times we’ll perhaps have to release a bit more water from the dams, perhaps use more natural gas, or – sorry liberals, but nuclear of some kind is in our future, too much energy stored there to leave unexploited. We will obviously have to do a better job planning for safety and waste disposal, than before, but it must be part of the future if we’re to cool this planet down.

Conservatives want to preserve reliance upon oil, the energy that has gotten so many Republicans rich. To be fair, hydrocarbons allowed the world’s economy to explode and for the 20th century to revolutionize the world. But it came with a huge price, one we must fix, fast, and that involves understanding that worrying about running out of “wind” should humiliate someone enough to reconsider whether they have anything to contribute to the discussion.

Here is MAGA Cong. candidate Ryan Zinke’s fear:

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

Fortunately, so long as the sun is shining, creating high and low pressure around the earth, we will not run out of wind, and that is sort of the point.

What happens when the wind isn’t blowing? Perhaps the sun is shining hard somewhere close? Perhaps we blanket the country with so many panels and turbines that we never need to worry about any one area, perhaps we release more water from the dam, perhaps we burn more natural gas, or perhaps we use more of the dangerous nuclear energy.

We need never concern ourselves with running out of wind. We just need to be smart about things. Zinke and his entire staff seem to have failed a very basic test.

No, it has not been taken down yet.
