In Christianity, nothing is more sacred as the crucifixion of Jesus and no images more sacrosanct than that of Jesus on the cross. Indeed, a cross is the sign of Christianity. One would think that a true Christian would be extremely careful about mixing images of Jesus – especially at the crucifixion – and Donald Trump and yet we have had to report on two such images in just the last two days.
This one, however, is a little different because it is not just Donald Trump on the cross (Has Trump suffered at all for having been the president he was?). No, this also has Nancy Pelosi as a Roman Centurian with the staff and blade, and it has Melania as Mary Magdalene.
The gospels are a bit coy about Magdalene’s role in Jesus’s ministry, though she was clearly an important part of his life because she was present during most major events. We also know that she joined Jesus’s cause after having been a…
Melania sues anyone who accuses her of once being a “call girl” (we will put it nicely, in hopes of not getting sued), when she would be far better off saying she was a young woman on her own in a foreign country and fought for herself while leaving it at that.
So, we don’t even know what the Trumps would make of this. We can be relatively sure that Trump would like any association between him and being a “god.” But Melania doesn’t like any sort of inference that she…
I understand this is supposed to be a tribute to the cult leader, but I don’t think Melania will like it. pic.twitter.com/xpo5sAW92B

That is how bad it is getting. These depictions are not even rare anymore. There are Christians on this staff and we’re getting pretty tired of it and find it sacrilegious. But then again, we find Trump to be sacrilegious, too.

I remember when some got REALLY UPSET when Peter Fonda wore US flag on his jacket & helmet in Easy Rider because, you know, the flag shouldn't be desecrated in that fashion.
Not sure if this represents progress or regression …— King Clip-on Tie (@RichardClip) December 4, 2021
1st Commandment – I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have any gods before Me.”
This commandment forbids idolatry, the worship of false gods and goddesses This commandment forbids making golden calves, building temples to Isis, and worshipping statues of Caesar, for example.— Gary Ray (Boostered Man) R (@Subvetnuc) December 4, 2021
I would hope that would feel outrageous and blasphemous to most Christians but not holding my breath for American ones.
