People who spend a lot of time in media know a dirty little secret. Though we might despise Fox’s election coverage, Fox’s vote forecasting team is the best of the networks and no one really even disputes it. They are often the earliest to make calls but have yet to be wrong in any significant race. They know their stuff and are not reckless. A quick Google search will confirm it. Other networks acknowledge that the Fox team is very good.
There is another thing about that team that is well-known. They’re math and precinct people. They are not political. They are not in there with an agenda. They are trying to set out the information accurately and get it out quickly.
When Fox called Arizona for Biden, it was because their team knew that Trump didn’t have enough possible votes to overcome Biden’s slight lead, not with what remained uncounted and not with the pattern that had developed.
The Trump team went absolutely apeshit because Trump still hasn’t acknowledged that he lost Arizona or even the national election. So, of course, he went crazed Additionally, to Trump, votes don’t matter anyway, “loyalty” matters and he’d been “loyal” to Fox and Fox “owed him.” This is how Trump operates.
Keep all that in mind when reading Meadows’s description of what happened in the White House when Fox called Arizona for Biden (which effectively flipped the national election into one that Biden was more likely to win). We use Rawstory’s use of quotes:
“I walked back down to the Map Room, where our analysts were reporting good news from social media. The Twitter traffic was all trending in the right direction,” before the bad news came in.
*People who have read other accounts will recall that when it was called for Arizona, Eric Trump immediately went to the analysts and started chewing them out for “letting this happen.” Fcking idiot.
“Then, out of nowhere, I heard a loud series of screams and expletives from the next room. Fox News had called Arizona for Joe Biden,
“Not only was this infuriating, but it was also mathematically impossible to determine at this early hour. With the information that Fox News had at the time, they could not possibly have been able to legitimately make the call that they did.”
This is coming from the man who would later put together a PowerPoint describing how the National Guard was going to hand count every paper ballot after an entire militarized election. HE is going to tell us what is and is not mathematically possible.
“My worst fears — that there was a liberal contingent within the network trying to sabotage President Trump in the name of objectivity — had been realized. I dialed Bill Sammon once again, tapping the numbers with such force that I’m surprised I didn’t crack the screen of my iPhone,” he wrote, telling Sammon, “There is no information that you could have at this time that would make this call possible.
Fck you, traitor. The correct description is there is an UNBIASED portion of Fox News election coverage that won’t play ball for the Republicans and – because if they won’t be “loyal,” that makes them “liberal” in your eyes. When, really? They just objective number crunchers, thus liberal to you.
“It may well be that President Trump loses Arizona. But if he does, it’s going to be by fewer than ten thousand votes, and there is no way you could know that right now.”
Depending upon how many votes remained and from where they remained, they could make the call and did. Meadows’ biggest problem is that they had a plan to sell afterward in a close election (they were not about to allow a close and fair election go to Biden. They were prepared to do things never done before and this would just make it harder.)
The more we learn about Meadows the more he should be considered a traitor to the nation. He helped plan a possible military takeover of the election. He should be in front of the committee Monday.
