Family law, divorce, kids – and such, is messy and quite often tragic. All too often, the third parties that must be involved, attorneys, judges, child advocates, are heartbroken, thinking that neither party should be parenting children and a deal is struck between the parties that leave those not involved near sick.
Who gets, what with respect to money varies wildly in different states. In the west, most of the law comes from old Mexican law whereby any money earned during the marriage is considered earned for the community and split 50-50. But one thing nearly (all?) states agree upon is that money that is inherited is the sole property of the spouse who inherited the money unless it was just used like income.
Why do we bring this up? Because Marjorie thinks a national divorce is in order. If there was a way to easily do it, it might be a great idea from the liberal side. But since “state by state” (Surely what MTG) believes to be the solution won’t work because there are too many in every state who vehemently disagree with the “red state” portion of what might be this divorce.
It would be like a couple that divorces but continues to live in the same house, which would be great for kids, not so much for new relationships forming.
But we brought up “inherited money” because this would seem to be the portion that the Right has failed to think through, given every study has shown that the blue states send more money into the federal government than money coming back, and – of course, the opposite for the red states. They can have all the guns they want but the poorest states would become that much poorer.
The dangerous part, of course, is that Marj is actually now calling for what would be secession, which generally involves a war of some kind. This would seem to be a violation of her oath and perhaps even charges of some kind.
Where did this come from?
Well, Marj responded to a Twitter post by an editor at the right-wing monthly magazine Chronicles, complaining about Democrats moving to red states despite vocally opposing the majority’s politics.
“I support actively discriminating against transplants like this through legislation. They shouldn’t be able to vote for a period, and they should have to pay a tax for their sins,” Pedro L. Gonzalez wrote.
Greene retweeted Gonzalez post, adding: ‘All possible in a National Divorce scenario.’
Civil war. A national divorce is a civil war.
Hey @Jim_Jordan: is this what you meant when you called Marjorie Taylor Greene "the kind of fighter needed in Washington"? pic.twitter.com/UhbV2TuipT

She also accused Democrats of “brainwashing” their own voters.
“After Democrat voters and big donors ruin a state like California, you would think it wise to stop them from doing it to another great state like Florida. Brainwashed people that move from CA and NY really need a cooling off period,” Greene wrote.
To some, Greene’s divorce proposal borders on treason.
