It was just last week that Trump made an offhand comment meant to be another one of his huge boasts. He was speaking to Bill O’Reilly and the subject of vaccines came up. Billo offhandedly said he’d been boosted and asked Trump about it. Trump said that, yes, he – too, had a booster shot.
Trump had COVID and likely doesn’t want to have it again as a mid-70s obese man. Additionally, Trump faces the dilemma in that he simply must take credit for getting the vaccines cleared in eight to nine months (which, literally any of us that can sign our names to a piece of paper could have done). But what good does it do to develop vaccines in nine months – instead of “five to twelve years” (as he likes to say) if the vaccines are more dangerous than the disease?
Trump got testy about this two nights ago with Candace Owens. Owens asserted that more people have died this year from the disease than last year. There you go. Proof. Vaccines are more dangerous than the disease. (Leaving out that the disease morphed into the much more dangerous Delta, that it spread more, that the vaccines weren’t readily available to “everyone” until about March and a myriad of other variables.
Trump actually corrected her with scientific fact. (STUNNING) And it is this “fact” that is going to throw the MAGAs into their biggest existential crisis yet, indeed one that actually threatens their existence.
Trump – of course – had to boast that “I came up with three vaccines…” and the boast is the problem. He needs to boast, but in order to boast, he needed to correct Candace. From Mediaite:
“Oh no, the vaccine works, but some people aren’t the ones. The ones who get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you’re protected.”
“Look, the results of the vaccine are very good, and if you do get it, it’s a very minor form. People aren’t dying when they take the vaccine.”
See, now this is a problem. As everyone knows, the MAGAs took it as an article of faith that, because Joe Biden was telling them to get vaxxed and boosted, it was clearly the wrong thing to do. Now they have Trump telling them the same thing?
Whose side is Trump on! One sees the huge issue forming literally everywhere:

And it couldn’t come at a worse time because in the next two months we are likely going to hear a lot of evidence come out proving that Trump knew of and approved the descent upon the Capitol and attempt to interrupt the counting, ahead of time.
That part won’t upset MAGAs. The part that will upset the MAGAs is that Trump used the people to “do the job” and then never pardoned them like Trump did his big-time friends. The MAGAs are likely to also hear – for the first time – that none of the White House staff, except for perhaps Trump, actually believed that they won the election.
For the first time, perhaps ever, the regular voting MAGA has real reason to question whether Trump is actually in their corner. Perhaps a great many of them will figure out what’s been obvious from the start; Trump despises them, he needs their votes and takes their money, but really doesn’t care what they believe.
We aren’t fooling ourselves. The MAGA movement isn’t gone obviously. It still can rally around hating liberals. But it is in a bigger crisis than any they’ve faced yet.
