The Founding Fathers were, by far, the most radical liberal-progressives of their time, radically liberal. They were the first group of European men since the Roman senate (they were all of British descent) to reject the Crown (or the papacy), fight a war, and establish an entirely new “Republic” – which explains why so much of the architecture in Washington D.C. are based upon Roman architecture. That, and the fact that Thomas Jefferson, among many other things, was probably America’s greatest architect.

However, there were limitations on their progressive nature. First of all, they established a Senate that would be appointed by the state legislature or governor (not elected). Of course, they did not allow women to vote, never mind slaves, and originally one had to own real property to vote. You could not be a mountain man desperado. You had to at least own a minimum amount of property.

We suspect that they did not allow a vote by mail, either, or motor-voter laws. George Washington vaccinated (by their standards) everyone against the “pox,” even though it meant he would lose some men.

They would also hang anyone who tried to pull that January 6th trick.

Thus it is that, by today’s standards, they would be considered almost “MAGA-like” by today’s standards, except for the January 6th part. They also supported the 2nd Amendment, though they put some pesky thing about a well-regulated militia put in there, which is weirdly ignored.

But in context, by the standards of the day, our Founding Fathers were the most radically liberal group one would find… until Abraham Lincoln. The point is, it is all about context, which is what Lauren Boebert simply doesn’t understand:

But had we been around back then, we’d have been with the George Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, liberals, rather than the Crown’s Benedict Arnold, unlike a certain representative from Colorado, whom the Founding Fathers wouldn’t have allowed to vote, never mind serve in office (they didn’t even need to write that).
