Karlie Kloss, a model who is best known for hosting the popular show Project Runway, recently opened up in an interview about what it is like to have Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump as in-laws. Kloss is married to Jared’s brother, Josh, and told WSJ Magazine that she has had to deal with constant online harassment for her connection to Trump’s daughter and son-in-law.
Kloss continues to receive this online hate despite being openly liberal, even campaigning for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and she said that, “I’ve had to grow really thick skin as it relates to being impacted by other people’s opinions.” Other progressive achievements for Kloss include a program she founded that teaches coding to female-identifying and non-binary individuals, called Kode with Klossy.
While explaining how she offsets all the hate she receives, the model simply stated that, “I just try and…speak out on things that I am authentically passionate about.” A few years ago, she also told British Vogue that while she does struggle with being in-laws with someone from the Trump family, she tries to, “focus on the values that I share with my husband, and those are the same liberal values that I was raised with and that have guided me throughout my life.”
Nothing can be said for certain about what the relationship between the two couples is like in private, but reportedly the political differences do create tension between the two families. However, Kloss has acknowledged in the past that she believes political divides are common in families, and that their situation is far from unique.
