Melania Trump has been a controversial First Lady to some, and an idol to others. To the majority of Americans, however, she has been simply irrelevant as a public figure, much to the chagrin of many Trump followers. Fox News consistently goes out of their way to praise the former FLOTUS whenever possible, such as in a recent segment where they suggested a Barbie Doll be made in her honor.

Brian Kilmeade made the comment during a segment on Barbie’s latest release, which is a doll styled after Eleanor Roosevelt to celebrate National Women’s Day. After another Fox reporter finished up explaining that Barbie is rolling out a whole new line of dolls based on “aspiring” women, Kilmeade said that the most “natural” choice would be Melania Trump.

There are several reasons why Barbie might not choose Melania as their next inspiration. Some instances that come to mind that may discourage them from doing so would be when she copied Michelle Obama’s entire speech, nearly word for word and thought no one would notice. Another would be when she wore a jacket that said “I don’t care” literally on her way to a detention center that was holding children in cells.

Brian Kilmeade’s embarrassing comment is followed up by saying that Melania looks like she should be a doll. It seems that he does not understand that what makes a women inspirational is not just what she looks like, but more importantly what she does and what she stands for.

Barbie’s Tweet about the Eleanor Roosevelt doll praised the former First Lady, saying that, “She used her voice to lift up others and inspired generations to speak up.” The doll will be styled similar to how she was known to dress. Maybe if Melania Trump uses her voice to lift others up instead of brushing off scared children, she will someday have a doll styled after her as well.
