If there was ever, ever, proof that no one dumped 15,000 extra votes in Georgia or Arizona, it is the fact that the authorities didn’t seem to have too much trouble tracking down someone who voted twice for Donald Trump in Florida, of all places. From the Villager News:
A Villager who is a registered Republican has been arrested on a warrant charging her with casting more than one election ballot.
Joan Halstead, 72, of the Village of Palo Alto was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Monday on the Sumter County warrant charging her with fraud, “casting more than one ballot at any election.” She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released at 8:28 p.m. Monday after posting $2,000 bond.
Sumter County voter records indicated she registered as a Republican on June 29, 2020. Her social media activity suggests she is a supporter of former President Donald Trump.
Ah, The Villages. We suspect that when someone drives up and down a dozen blocks, picking up ballots to be mailed in for people who have trouble getting out, that person will be called a “good neighbor.” When we hear about a Black person doing the same thing, perhaps in some projects, we will hear it called “ballot harvesting.”
It is somewhat amazing that she was caught. Filing just two ballots? Not ten? Even though the article mentions Trump, it seems far more likely that this is the type of thing someone would do for a very small local race where there would not be too many ballots cast. But if someone invited getting themselves charged with a crime for one extra ballot for Trump in a state – as large as Florida, that he was going to win anyway! – that is almost criminally stupid.
Regardless, these types of things really do show that it would be absolutely impossible to dump thousands of extra ballots into the system and not get caught.
Now, check out these Facebook posts. I think it’s fair to guess this lady has a “Let’s Go Brandon” t-shirt in her wardrobe.
