Every once in a while, Ted Cruz forgets that the internet is a place full of people who think he’s a moron. It’s easy to just dismiss Ted as oblivious, but sometimes he seems really dedicated to finding out just how lame everyone but his voters think he is.

On Tuesday, Senator Cruz tried to poke at President Biden with a tweet that was meant to be funny. But the responses he got were much, much funnier.

Responding to a story that Biden would be spending Thanksgiving with his family in Nantucket, Cruz tweeted “There once was a man from Nantucket….” in reference to a dirty limerick that I’m sure you just finished in your head. Ted was apparently trying to jab at Joe for traveling while he should be working.

Now, I know it’s unprofessional for a Senator to reference a filthy rhyme on his official Twitter account, but Ted must have been out of his mind if he didn’t think it would provoke a slew of limericks back at him. Maybe he forgot about that time when Texas was in a deep freeze and he thought it would be a good idea to fly off to Mexico, but nobody else did.
