Ron DeSantis, widely known as America’s worst governor, seems to have a little help hanging onto that title with the assistance of his staff. Not only do they not do the simple job of keeping him in check when he’s about to say something crazy or stupid, but they also tend to say those things themselves.

DeSantis’ press secretary, Christina Pushaw, took to Twitter on Wednesday with a wild, anti-Semitic conspiracy theory about a vaccine passport system enacted in the former Soviet republic of Georgia. The country sits on the border of Europe and Asia, and was inducted into the European Union more than 5 years ago.

Almost all of the rest of the EU countries had already implemented a “Green Pass” system that allows people to travel freely so long as they carry vaccination documentation. We kind of wish they’d hurry up and do something like that here as well, but “freedom,” right?

Pushaw, however, didn’t think that Georgia was just keeping up with its neighbors in safety precautions. She speculated that the implementation of the Green Pass in Georgia was directly linked to a visit from a member of the Rothschild family.

If that name sounds familiar, it’s probably because the Rothschilds are at the center of as many anti-Semitic conspiracy theories as George Soros is. Personally, I kind of miss the Illuminati at this point.

Pushaw minced zero words:

Immediately after that, the Rothschilds show up to discuss the attractive investment environment in Georgia (lol). No weird conspiracy theory stuff here!

No, Christina, that’s actually totally a weird conspiracy theory. Inferring that a powerful Jewish family is exerting undue control over the COVID policy of an entire country in order to invest there is 100 percent anti-Semitic garbage.

She has since deleted the tweet, but like most Republicans, she can’t seem to grasp that the Internet is forever.

Let’s see how DeSantis talks his way out of this.
