Until now, it has been very hard for the January 6 House Select Committee, which is investigating the Capitol riots, to get any important information from Republican White House staffers or politicians, with only a few notable exceptions. CNN reporter Jamie Gangel has now revealed that this may be changing, as many of those staffed under Mike Pence at the time of the riots will be willingly cooperating with the committee.

Pence’s staff is in full support of their boss, who was lashed out at by both the former president and his followers on the day of the riots.

They point not just to the way he was mistreated, but they also wanted to emphasize the Tweet he sent the day of the insurrection that thanked the Capitol police officers for their work.

While Pence was sending that Tweet, Trump followers were outside chanting “Hang Mike Pence”, with no discouragement from their idol. Ultimately, this treatment of his former Vice President is what is motivating Pence staffers to work with the committee and reveal evidence that could be potentially damaging to Trump’s case.

According to CNN, those that work for Pence have relevant information, specifically “texts, e-mails, other documents that could be of interest.” Though there have been a few republicans so far working with the committee that could have pertinent information, it appears that Pence’s staff may be the strongest lead so far.

Another positive to this new development is that the more people with insider information that are willing to work with the committee, the more it could potentially lead to others doing the same. Many republicans fear the exile and shame that is placed upon GOP representatives that cross Donald Trump, but seeing others willing to stand up and tell the truth can start to loosen the hold that Trump and his fanatic followers have over the rest of the republican community.
