Over their many years serving in the Senate together, Senator Lindsey Graham and President Joe Biden were good friends, with only kind things to say about one another. Yet, according to Graham, Biden’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan has damaged that relationship forever. During an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday morning, for the first time Graham had a long list of negative things to say about his former companion.
In a 2016 interview, Lindsey Graham said about Joe Biden, “The bottom line is, if you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, then it’s probably- you’ve got a problem. You need to do some self-evaluation. Because what’s not to like?” This interview, only five years ago, has not aged well, and Graham is now saying that Biden has the worst foreign policies of any current politicians.
That quote wasn’t the nicest thing Graham had said about Biden, either. In the same interview, he said that Biden was “as good a man as God ever created.” It’s easy to imagine after the decades long friendship built on admiration, the two would have been on the same page even after Biden became president.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Graham’s tune has certainly changed when it comes to Biden, and he cites the withdrawal of American troops in Afghanistan as the breaking point in that relationship. Now Graham says this about our current president: “I can’t wait until the next election to stop this socialist train on the domestic side and have a chance to get a commander in chief who knows how to keep this country safe.”
