Bob Woodward is a household name. He forged his success, of course, on the back of the Watergate scandal during the Nixon years. His credentials are impeccable.

When someone like Bob Woodward says that he has evidence of a conspiracy, that should make your ears perk up. There is plenty of non-news left and right every day that leaves you, the reader, with the responsibility of deciding the veracity of it. But real reporting doesn’t leave you wondering whether or not it is true, and that’s Woodward’s wheelhouse.

Breaking news outlet the Raw Story has video of Woodward’s recent interview with CNN’s Brianna Keilar in which he lays out evidence of a Trump conspiracy surrounding January 6 that his researcher dug up.

Every news outlet has been trying desperately to find the tie that links Trump directly to the effort to deny Biden the presidency. It looks as though Woodward and the Washington Post have done just that.

Woodward’s researcher, Claire McMullin, discovered a recording of Trump lawyer John Eastman that was previously unheard. Eastman was the main proponent of the theory that Mike Pence could have prevented Biden’s inauguration by refusing to certify the election.

Eastman was talking about the effort to make this happen, and he happened to mention the Willard Hotel as a sort of command center for a team that was trying to coordinate the plan.

WOODWARD: Then in a very important legal point he said, ‘I would not normally talk about things like this, but I have been directed by the president of the United States’ — at that time that was Trump — ‘to tell and to talk.’ So [Trump has] waived the privilege.

That’s the ex-president’s lawyer confirming in audio that not only was Trump involved in the effort to get Pence to overturn the election, but that he has waived his executive privilege rights over the contents of conversations that went down in the very place that the plan came together.

It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.
