Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial has been a huge focus of media attention in recent days, so many Americans nationwide tuned in to see the interview with his mother, Wendy, which aired on Fox News. What they witnessed was her putting her own foot in her mouth with her statements about her son’s behavior.

CNN discussed this interview at length, and their legal analyst Areva Martin says it appears that Kyle’s family has not learned anything about consequences despite their son being on trial for taking the lives of two men. When asked about whether or not her son would ever repeat his actions, Wendy blatantly admits that she believes he would in fact do the same thing again.

When asked if her son would “go into a situation like that again”, this was Kyle’s mother’s reply: “With Kyle, I know him, and he probably would do it again, because that’s the type of person he is. He’s always wanted to help people, even as a little boy, that’s all he wanted to do, is help people.”

Help people.

First of all, the fact that she can justify her son sh00ting unarmed people as helping them is truly concerning. Secondly, she gave the prosecution a huge advantage, as they can now point out in their closing statements that even his mother says he would do do the same thing again if he is not arrested.

When discussing the interview, Martin pointed out that, “to say that he would do it again shows no remorse for the lives that he took and the chaos that he created and the impact his actions have had on so many people that were involved in that sh00ting.” There is no doubt that the insensitive statement will come back to haunt both her and her son.
