Always the victim. One cannot understand Trump without understanding that everything in his life is unfair to him, everything, and he’s always the victim of bad people, terrible people. When something unfair happens, he seeks revenge. He cannot live with himself until he believes he’s gotten his revenge. Revenge for losing the election is a tough one, but he’s trying.
Having established Trump’s modus operandi, there is a reason that Trump’s first impeachment centered around an effort to destroy Joe Biden, even though the Democrats had not even started the primary season. Joe Biden was the only Democrat they feared. They knew that centrist, blue-collar, honest, Joe, could win back many of the voters that drifted over to Trump, in large part because they couldn’t stand Hillary.
Later, after Joe Biden had been nominated, pollster, Tony Fabrizio, tried to talk some sense into Trump and give him an idea as to what the voters believed at that point. According to Woodward’s new Book “Peril,” Trump again made sure to establish that he was the real victim. Thanks to Mediaite for the transcript:
“Well, to be honest, Mr. President, the voters are just fatigued. They’re tired of the chaos. They’re tired of the tumult,” Tony Fabrizio told Trump following the president’s July 2020 re-election campaign rally in Tulsa, Okla.,
“Oh, they’re tired?” said Trump angrily toward Fabrizio, according to Insider, citing the book. “They’re fu*king tired? Well, I’m fucking tired and fatigued too.”
Trump proceeded to call his then-Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, “too old” and claimed that “he can’t even string together a sentence,” according to the outlet, citing the book.
The “can’t string a sentence together” thing is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful ironic statements ever uttered. Take a moment, breathe it in, appreciate it. Commit it to memory, perfection like this is rare. “Person, man, woman…”
“You can’t make him into a crazy liberal,” countered Fabrizio, adding, “I don’t think people will buy it,” according to Insider, citing the book.
Correct. Trump staked out the “crazy” position long before Biden even considered running. Trump is so crazy that he is positive that he’s been victimized his entire life and he’s capable of stringing together “the best sentences.”
