In what would be great news, an influential far right MAGA, Tony Perkins, has acknowledged that A) Global climate change is real and B) It is caused by man. Great so far, the admission represents two steps that most MAGA Republicans have yet to make. Obviously, having concluded that man causes global climate change, the obviously step to fixing it is man stop doing what causes it, correct?

No, the answer is to surrender to Jesus. Let’s pretend for a moment that surrendering to Jesus makes one a better person (depending on the person, it might), is he saying Jesus will then remove the carbon from our atmosphere? Or just bring about the end of the world that much quicker?

“Man is responsible for the changing climate. Our sin has corrupted the environment and it began in the Garden of Eden with the fall of man. And the climate has only gotten worse ever since.

“But the solution is not bigger government that will take more of your money and more of your freedoms and promise more things that they cannot deliver on.

“The solution is going back to the heart of the matter. Number one, Jesus is telling us this is gonna happen. This is the unfolding of human history.

“Yes, this is code red. The warning signs are going off all around us. But the solution is not to turn to the government and surrender more of our powers.

“It is to turn to the lord Jesus Christ and surrender our lives and everything we have to to him. And to serve him faithfully in the midst of these challenging times.”

We have seen no evidence that Jesus is ready to take care of the climate crisis should we simply turn to him. Perhaps people would get less selfish and willing to do more. But that is not a plan. An international plan requires an international effort, which must go through the government.

We cannot help but notice that Perkins went dead silent as to what might happen after one surrenders to Jesus, something we find to be an important detail.
