We aren’t sure what Nikki Haley was ever thinking. Haley really was an up-and-coming star in the Republican party, a relatively successful governor of a blood-red state, and known as a moderate. Plus, she brought two invaluable things to the GOP. She was a woman, first of all, something that the GOP sorely lacks in leadership (and not accidentally), and she brought some diversity with her ethnicity, having parents from Punjab India, thus making her a first-generation American.

She is also quite attractive, which really matters to Republicans, and smart. She had an unlimited future in the Republican party until Trump came along. But instead of holding out as a Never Trumper and waiting 8-10 years (we hope) for the dust to clear (she is very young, too, at 49), she chose to go all-in, full MAGA, mostly. Poor Nikki, she tried so hard, and yet the one thing that Haley cannot do is act and one could tell, no matter what she said, her heart just wasn’t in it.

She should have known that there is no place for a woman in Trump’s world, except in bed. He doesn’t like women. He doesn’t respect women. The first thing he thinks about when thinking about women is picturing them naked. He would never take her seriously, except grossly. Now she gets her comeuppance. Trump slammed her in a recent Vanity Fair article:

“Well, every time she criticizes me, she uncriticizes me about 15 minutes later,” Trump said. “I guess she gets the base.”

Haley did brutally criticize Trump after the January 6 riot at the Capitol. She said his words and actions will be “will be judged harshly by history,” and that his betrayal of Mike Pence “disgusted” her.

Months later, Haley said she would support Trump in 2024 if he decided to run. She has lavished him in praise in speeches since.

He is mocking her, again – refusing to take her seriously, and he never will. Now, Haley has destroyed her future because she’ll never be taken seriously as a woman in MAGA land and she’ll have sold her soul to those who were the more reasonable “never-Trumpers.”

Poor Nikki. Just kidding.
