In an almost startlingly clear realization, liberal activist and writer Greg Olear near single-handedly was able to get “Breaking Brett” trending on Twitter today. His point was relatively simple. Given the circumstances of Kavanaugh’s appointment (the very oddly timed Trump retirement). Given the old law review article stating it should be illegal to investigate presidents, the credible assault accusation, the drinking, and the very odd sudden payment of all his debts (Up to $150K in credit card debt? Who carries that around?), given all that, if the situation was reversed, if Kavanaugh was a very liberal judge with such a sketchy past, and there was a conservative president and congress, there is no doubt that the Republicans would investigate him.

So why are the Democrats not so doing?

We do have some thoughts. Some might think it’s an utterly worthless endeavor unless somehow the Democrats had over 67 Democratic votes in the senate. To be sure, that is one reality.

On the other hand, who is to say that a real investigation (we have been made aware that the FBI did almost nothing when asked to do additional investigation) wouldn’t uncover something that near mandates that Kavanaugh steps down on his own? It is crazy thinking but unlike the impeachment, this part is conceivable, even Brett Kavanaugh has to sit inside those chambers with eight other justices, and if all eight couldn’t stand him… his life could be made easier somewhere else. “For the good of the country… ”

It really is a worthy endeavor for the health of the country, it is good government, so people can have faith that they know the truth. It is also true that Republicans would certainly do this were the situation reversed.
