At least it’s not Trump?

No, there is almost no fundamental difference between DeSantis and Trump, either one would or will lead from the bottom up, meeting the desires and views of the worst of the Republican party, the racists, the anti-science, the fascism, the cruel, and the jaw-dropping stupidity. Either one would gain the rabid support of the current MAGA heads. DeSantis’ support would be contingent upon Trump not running (for whatever reason) in 2024 and extends from there.

Given that there’s no practical difference in the outcome, it’s merely fascinating that Fox News finds DeSantis as the future, not Trump.

From Mediaite:

The Tampa Bay Times obtained 1,250 pages of emails between Fox News and Florida Governor Ron Desantis, which reveal the extent to which network producers worked to promote the potential 2024 presidential contender.

One staggering statistic: in less than four months, between the 2020 election and the end of February, Fox News requested that DeSantis appear 113 times. That’s almost once a day for the governor, who was recently picked by CPAC attendees as the 2024 favorite among candidates not named Donald Trump.

DeSantis prefers the evening shows over daytime news and really dodges Chris Wallace and Brett Baiers, who ask relatively tough questions.

And of course:

One producer told DeSantis’ team it was the mission of Fox’s midday host, Martha MacCallum, to “look forward and really spotlight the STARS of the GOP” and “she named Gov. DeSantis as one.” Another put it this way in an email to Beatrice: “We see him as the future of the party.”

On at least one occasion, they even allowed DeSantis to pick the topic of the interview.

Not one objective difference in results, policies, or the type of country they’d leave behind between Trump and DeSantis.
