Florida is dying and everyone knows it and it’s pretty obvious why. It is not an accident that the governor who most wants to be Donald Trump is doing the most Trumpian thing he can possibly do to Floridians, put them in danger for what he sees as his own political gain.
Both Donald Trump and Ron-Don-Santis were and are always willing to plumb the depths of the sewers of the Republican right if it helps them personally and politically.
As anyone who watches the news knows, there are no hospital beds for people, just about anywhere, from across the entire southeast, including Texas, all the way up to Idaho and much of Washington, and even when they might have a bed or two open, they don’t have the experienced RNs necessary to care for those patients. That is why the federal government is sending staff in to care for the patients in the garage in MS and why the federal government is going to end up having to do that in far more places.
Almost all of this, in fact, perhaps 100% of this, has to do with masks and vaccines and of course, that comes right back to Trump and DeSantis. Because this is a hospitalization of the unvaccinated. Many of us have personally experienced a breakthrough Delta variant COVID (especially people vaccinated with Pfizer, which doesn’t seem to handle Delta as well. It is not even slightly fun, but there is never a point where one believes one is headed to the hospital. And because DeSantis is leading the way in allowing this disease to be one for the unvaccinated, a “How to Save Florida meme went ripping through Twitter, near number one today, some were funny, some were serious, all of them know what the problem is:

Yes indeed. Those of us who live within the borders of that map (but not within Florida) understand the last one completely. The infection is MAGA and DeSantis is the new MAGA man.
