For all we know, Trump is right about Twitter failing to ban the Taliban from Twitter. We would have to look at their history. Perhaps they share their faith teaching. We don’t know. What we do know is that just because Twitter might have failed in banning the Taliban from Twitter doesn’t mean that banning Trump was wrong, even though he believes that is the obvious takeaway.

According to the pro-Trump New York Post:

“It’s disgraceful when you think that you have k*llers and muggers and dictators and horrible — some horrible dictators and countries, and they’re all on but the president of the United States, who had hundreds of millions of people, by the way, he gets taken off,” Trump told Newsmax Wednesday in a phone interview.

This is, of course, the same group that he’s bragged – just recently – of striking a deal with.

While Trump has remained banned from the platform since the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has been allowed to post updates freely on the platform.

Mujahid’s unverified account, which was used to provide updates on the Taliban’s capture of Afghan cities as they aggressively took control of the country in days, has racked up more than 326,000 followers.

That is not a call to violence, it seems like it’s not much more than a news service.

Another Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, has more than 66,000 followers.

Twitter issued a blanket statement to questions about the radical Islamic militant group’s presence on the platform, however, the company did not respond directly to the former president’s criticism.

We are fairly certain that Twitter will review the Taliban account. But Trump wants everyone to forget. Twitter doesn’t decide who gets an account by looking at good guys and bad guys (though Trump would fail that test, too). It is how one uses Twitter. Trump used Twitter to make calls for violence. From what we see above, we see a news service, more than anything. But again, they need to review it and see if there are calls to violence or plans made for violence.

If not, Trump still doesn’t have a leg to stand on. It’s not about good guys and bad guys. It is about how one uses the account.
