Donald Trump never caught on or wasn’t capable of understanding one “not-so-subtle” point. The United States spies on Russian spies in the United States. We spy on them because they do things like hack our computers, meddle in our elections, try to discern new military capability, and – oh, they sometimes try to purchase presidents. Any of those would be disastrous for United States security.

So we spy on them just like they spy on us.

Thus it is that if the CIA or the FBI is monitoring a Russian spy’s phone and it just happens to get a call from Jared Kushner or from Paul Manafort, is our spy industry under some obligation to hang up? Normally, the agency will not know who the American might be. They will then determine whether they even need to know who the American is (often it doesn’t, they’re more interested in what the Russians are fishing around about). If the agency decides it needs the American’s identification, they get a warrant to “unmask” the American. All of that is well and good and you heard Trump scream that they were “unmasked” improperly.

But if the calls starts from a Trump Campaign number and goes something like, “Seirgey, comrade! It’s Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband, Trump’s son in law, the guy in charge of the Trump Campaign cyber campaign! Are we still on for the $1.5 billion dollar deal whereby you help get us elected and we do whatever you want?”

In such a scenario, there is A) No need to “unmask” anyone, and B) The United States is not spying on the Trump campaign, the Trump campaign keeps butting in to talk to Russian spies!

We have a new report from the invaluable New York magazine,

“According to two sources familiar with the probe, there has been no evidence found, after 18 months of investigation, to support Barr’s claims that Trump was targeted by politically biased Obama officials to prevent his election. (The probe remains ongoing.) In fact, the sources said, the Durham investigation has so far uncovered no evidence of any wrongdoing by Biden or Barack Obama, or that they were even involved with the Russia investigation.”

Nonetheless, Trump on Monday stated, “Does everybody remember when we caught the Democrats, red-handed, SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN? Where’s Durham?”

Durham is surely in Bangkok with Hunter doing lines of coke laced with heroin, accompanied by “escorts” that come priced by the dozen, while using Hunter’s new NSA-issued computer that monitors the Italian satellite that know what Trump is thinking because he got the vaccine. Does that answer your question? (*We are NOT mocking Hunter’s brave admissions about his addictions. We are mocking the fact that a family like the Trumps, one that has such a rich history of rumors regarding substances… that they’d mock Hunter is disgusting.)

We bet that for at least a few seconds, he believes it’s true
