If anyone had the perfect plan as to what to do in Afghanistan, they had twenty years to impose it and was not able to get it done. Anyone in the Oval Office faced a no-win situation. If you stay, you are keeping Americans in harm’s way for a cause that seemed lost in every way. It would take hundreds of thousands of troops to really make an effort at defeating the Taliban and that would not come with a guarantee that one would, and one would have to stay for a significant period afterward.
Or one can pull out, saying we did all we could and 20 years is more than enough.
Here is what we know is wrong. It is probably wrong for Biden to blame Trump for the situation in Afghanistan when it wasn’t that much different than where Obama left it. And it’s definitely wrong for Trump to come out and criticize Biden’s decision, but that’s typical Trump:
What he’s saying:Trump said in an emailed statement hours after Biden’s comments that his successor had “ran out of Afghanistan instead of following the plan our Administration left for him.” He didn’t elaborate further on details of this plan.
“What a disgrace it will be when the Taliban raises their flag over America’s Embassy in Kabul,” Trump said. “This is complete failure through weakness, incompetence, and total strategic incoherence.”
Flashback: Trump said in April that Biden’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan was “a wonderful and positive thing to do,” but criticized the timeline and said the U.S. “should get out earlier.”

See? Even Trump doesn’t know what Trump wants. He only knows that he opposes Biden, that’s it. Both these guys are going about this wrong. Both should probably just keep their mouths shut about each other.
