Over the weekend Madison Cawthorn made a statement about taking up arms against other Americans, actual bloodshed if elections continue to be “rigged.”

Madison should be kicked out of the House and would be kicked out of the House were he not protected by the man who is still the leader of the Republican party, Donald Trump, the twice impeached, one-term president. “Why cover him?” We’re often asked. Because Trump continues to set the tone, continues to call the shots, continues to name winners and losers on the right and – apparently, continues to motivate some to at least discuss violent reactions to elections as entirely reasonable.

So last night, when Trump sat down with one of the only networks that will set up a three-camera, formal interview, anymore – OAN, he did so because he and his team wanted to take advantage of the perceived weak withdrawal of Afghanistan – which was stronger than originally thought. Trump was surely supposed to talk about how he could have engineered the perfect withdrawal.

We already covered the fact that he looked terrible. But clearly, he also couldn’t keep on script. He was supposed to talk about Afghanistan and ended up talking about stairs and 45,000 people at rallies. Transcript from Rawstory:

About Afghanistan:

“He’s taken us out. No, we could have gone out. We could have gone out with great dignity and saving lives and everything else, nothing to do with it. But [the media are] trying to protect him with that.”

That’s it. (A little more we’ll ignore, basically that’s it):

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

About Stairs:

“When he fell up the stairs, fell up the stairs three times, it was not on any program. If that was me, it would have been the biggest story for months, career-ending. It was never on the media, never on mainstream media, his trip. It’s okay, you can trip. Gerald Ford tripped, never lived it down. I would go very carefully down the stairs, I don’t want to trip. You don’t live it down with these people. With him, they never put it on.”

About 75 Million Votes *(Isn’t it almost like someone rigged up a guaranteed 75 million votes, sure that was enough? Isn’t it weird he keeps going back to it? Isn’t it too bad we don’t know exactly where this comes from?)

“I got 75 million votes. I had the media totally against my, outside of yourself and a few others, I had the media against me as much as anyone has ever seen. No one has seen anything like it. I had the vicious Democrats, communists socialists, call them whatever the hell they are or they’ll impeach you if you sneeze, and just vicious what they do, and I had big tech against me, and I was told you can’t win if you have big tech. I had 75 million votes, more than any sitting president has ever gotten. They said he had 81 million, there’s no way he got 81 [million votes].”

About 45,000 people:

I’d come into Arizona and draw 45,000 people at a rally. He’d come into Arizona and he had eight circles and couldn’t fill them. He had to ask the press — he didn’t ask the press because he couldn’t do that, he wouldn’t know how — but the press would be asked to fill the circles, please, because they had no people, and then I was upset in Arizona and Fox called it early when I was leading big. What did Fox know to do that?

Maybe Biden’s voters didn’t want to die? And we call total bullshit on the 45,000 voter rally. We bet he never got half that amount. The interview was supposed to be about Commander-in-Chief stuff. Withdrawing forces, how Biden couldn’t do it. But he could have. He ended up talking about stairs. And yet Madison Cawthorn is willing to shed [other people’s] blood for this man. Stunning.
