The guy who instituted a Muslim ban (but not from countries with oil) and shut down the southern border to refugees from El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, now suddenly cares about refugees. To be sure, it’s only because it’s one way to pound on Joe Biden, and thus no one is buying the faux sincere concern for the Afghani refugees. From Forbes (Much more below):
Trump’s stance on the Afghan refugees represents a break with some of his closest allies, like former aide Stephen Miller, who, echoing Trump’s long-held anti-immigrant views, has spoken out against taking in Afghan refugees.
When Trump is disagreeing with Stephen Miller, that’s how one knows it’s about beating up Biden.
But this is an interesting point and we don’t trust the information coming out of Afghanistan right now. It is a good question as to whether the Afghanis who provided us so much assistance under the promise that they would be allowed to immigrate to the United States were allowed out of the country. If Biden’s plan didn’t take into account how long it would take to remove the Afghani civilians who were critical to our troops’ safety, then it was a moral failure of the highest order. But again, we don’t know whether it is true or not.
We do know that there is no real sincerity in this:
“Under my leadership, all civilians and equipment would have been removed.”

Trump is sowing the roots of fascism here. It used to be taken as a given that there was only one U.S. President at a time and politics stopped at the water’s edge. It would be fair for other politicians currently in office to question whether Biden’s decision was correct, but not a former president. Besides, Trump wouldn’t have cared at all, he’s already proven so. He heard about it on Twitter:

He was far less willing to take Kurdish refugees when he left them on the field–and there, they actually had a chance. https://t.co/eGk9bw8Jaz

So the people who did all they could to deny ALL refugees access to America and try to deport those we already had here are now demanding we take in refugees.
They're not wrong, we should take them in, but the hypocrisy is abominable. https://t.co/l8NaZZ7M5B

No doubt, except regarding Trump’s sincerity.
