Because Trump has nothing better to do with his life and because thinks he’s still president, of something, he appeared on yet another media outlet today, marking this what seems like the fifth day this week. We cannot emphasize this enough, every president until Trump kept their mouths shut for at least two years, most up to four. Trump talks shit every day.
But today, Trump went too far, even for Hugh Hewitt, a MAGA lapdog.
Trump first started talking sensibly (it was a set-up) about having no problem taking a booster.
“I would have nothing against getting it, I would like to look at it a little bit more. But, first of all, we have until September to make the decision, you know, et cetera, et cetera, we have a little while.”
Perfectly sensible. But then the on/off switch in his brain went back to “On,” which is the one that controls all his thoughts about himself and his place in the world. He went half self-aggrandizing (normal) and half conspiracy theory (half normal):
“I do think that Pfizer, I will say this, the FDA is bureaucratically run, would have taken five years to get it approved, would have never even had it if it weren’t for me and I learned things. The FDA is virtually controlled by Pfizer. Pfizer has control, not Johnson & Johnson, not Moderna, but Pfizer has control. Pfizer has control over the FDA.”
So, wait. Let’s take this one at a time:
When COVID first hit, Trump said he thought they’d have a vaccine within three to four months and looked at Fauci, who shook his head and said, “Perhaps by the end of the year.” From the very beginning, the hope was to have it by the beginning of the year under emergency approval. Borris Johnson did a better job, beat Trump by two weeks.
“Would never have had it.” I guess we all owe our lives to Donald Trump, which is precisely how he sees it. The FDA is controlled by Pfizer? Who was president from 2016 until 2020 when the great miracle vaccine that wouldn’t have been made without you, was made? If Pfizer had control of the FDA, whose job would it have been to take back that control? Did he fail? No, no, of course not. It is on Biden.
Hewitt knew that he was off the chain at this point and that Trump was making an ass of himself again, and thus decided to send Trump a lifeline, another enemy.
“Second question,” the host said. “Have you heard anything from John Durham? Has he asked to interview you? Do you know what’s going on with John Durham?”
Nope. Haven’t heard a damned thing. Perhaps Durham is hoping that everyone forgets that Trump appointed him, which – they will do, if Trump’s role in January 6th is fully exposed to the extent we expect it to be.
Trump said:
“Every time I speak, I say where’s Durham? That should have never been allowed to be put into the Biden administration. They spied on my campaign and they didn’t pay. We caught them.”
They spied on the Russians you stupid fffff, the fact that your campaign was always talking to the Russians is hardly our intelligence community’s fault.
