We have spent the last two days reporting on the breathtaking scope of the document request sent by the House Select Committee, the one charged looking into January 6th. On its own inherent authority, the committee determined to find the roots of January 6th in the Big Lie, meaning that they were going to go through every page, of every memo, pertaining to, well, the Big Lie. not just January 6th.
Obviously, those at the center of the proceedings are going to feel more than a little threatened, in fact, they’re likely sh*tting themselves. It really isn’t hard to figure out who has the most to lose, they are the ones complaining the loudest.
Last night we reported on a statement put out by Trump that sounded like a college kid who just found out he had a final tomorrow in a class he thought he dropped on time. Trump was in a panic, palpably short of breath. He pledged to protect “executive privilege” and to do it out of the goodness of his heart because he even mentioned that he wasn’t doing it for himself but for the presidency and future presidents.
When has Trump ever done anything for anyone else’s benefit, something that didn’t benefit him? Putin doesn’t count. Because doing Putin’s bidding most certainly “helps” Trump stay rich, free, and alive, all at the same time.
Today, it was Jim Jordan’s turn to panic. He tried so hard to sound magnanimous about it. He has nothing to hide. Yes, he called Trump on January 6th. But there is nothing to it… but wait until the Republicans have power, then Jim Jordan said there “could be political retribution.”
What the duck does that even mean? “If you catch me in a full on felony in preparing to overthrow the United States government, I promise you that the next time I’m part of the majority in the House, I will find some tax law you skirted and make sure that you pay!” If one really thinks about it, that is exactly what Jordan is saying.
Jim, either you did something wrong or you didn’t. Why do you care if they’re looking at your records? Aren’t they supposed to investigate? Is it their fault that your records are there? Are they supposed to feel threatened by your… threat? Why are you even making a threat?
Just kidding. We know. You’re guilty as fck. And don’t take our word for it. Take Liz Cheney’s, then number three in your party at the time, when – on January 6th, you acted all chivalrous and offered to help the “ladies” get out of the House, and she pushed you off, calling you names even we won’t use, and all while screaming “You did this!” What did you do, Jim?
THAT is what Jim Jordan fears below. From CNN:
Jordan, who has said that he spoke to former Trump on January 6, told CNN on Monday that he had not been contacted by the committee to preserve his records, but said if he does he will comply. I’ve got nothing to hide. I’ve said that along, I’ve nothing to hide,” Jordan, an Ohio Republican, said, but then warned that should the committee take that step there could be political retribution.
