Ron-Don DeSantis is a tough guy playing Trump’s mini-me against little school boards with virtually no power against the state’s education board, controlled, of course, by DeSantis. Even still, some local school districts (Miami, for example) have bravely stood up to DeSantis’s mandate that school districts cannot mandate masks, a completely backward rule in a Republican party that built itself up by saying that local government is the best government.
DeSantis even took on the cruise industry, attempting to deny cruise ships the docks they need along Florida’s coasts, should they require vaccinations. Again, this was child’s play, relatively speaking. Now Disney is flexing its muscle. From WCJB:
Starting next month, Disney Cruise Line is implementing a vaccine mandate on some of its routes, the company announced Tuesday.
“For sailings to the Bahamas beginning September 3, 2021, until November 1, 2021, The Bahamas will require that all passengers ages 12 and older be fully vaccinated in order for a ship to be allowed entry into any of its cruise ports, including private islands like Disney Castaway Cay,” according to an advisory on the cruise line website.
Yes, Disney’s cruise line matters. But everyone knows that the real battle is yet to come. It is just heating up, Disney World reached an agreement requiring its entire unionized employees:
Florida’s Walt Disney World will now require union employees as well as non-union and salaried workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to keep their jobs at the theme park.
Yes. That leaves one big step yet to be done, and everyone knows it’s coming, proof of vaccinations to get into any Disney resort, the engine that drives central Florida’s tourism industry. How big and bad and Trumpy does DeSantis plan to be when he’s up against money and power? Can he beat a mouse?
In Florida, Disney v DeSantis is the battle I want to see.
He's tough when it comes to shitting on local school boards and reporters…but watch him shut his hole on Disney mandating vaccines.

Yes, just like the fight seems pre-ordained, so does the result. Ron-Don-DeSantis can get his Trump on when going against a school board that has nothing with which to fight. He can swat at flies. But what is he going to do when a mouse comes to kick his ass? He is going to fold like the pretender he really is.
