Sen. John Kennedy represents the Great State of Louisiana, home of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. There is no place quite like a home football game at Tiger Stadium, especially at night, where they have measured small earthquakes when they score. Unless someone on the internet is lying, LSU begins its football schedule in a stadium that seats 102,000 people in one month. Louisiana is still one of the worst states in the percentage of people vaccinatinated and thus, out of the 102,000 at football games this fall, probably half will not be vaccinated. Half. That’s 51,000, even in Louisiana.

Senator John Kennedy is very upset that Barack Obama is going forward with an outdoor birthday party because of the signal it sends with respect to COVID. We suspect it is primarily because Sen. John Kennedy is not invited. It is okay, only 400 of the coolest, most beautiful people in the world are invited. In the entirety of the country, we personally know only one person invited, who – for the purposes of this column, we’ll call Nicole Hickman James. Perhaps she’ll take a date, more likely she’ll have someone work extra that day.

Regardless, we are really tired of hearing that these Republicans are suddenly very concerned about super-spreader events. We reported on the fact that Greg Kelly of Newsmax is very worried about the message it sends. We think Kelly’s confused about messages. The Obamas are inviting Democrats, like Nicole, who are vaccinated and taking other precautions, like leaving other writer guys at home, favoring masks, having the party outdoors, checking temperatures, all that.

The Obamas are also scaling back plans for the party. We don’t know what that means. The one time we tried to scale something back with a person named Nicole we woke up in a ditch in McAllen Texas.

They are also quite conveniently forgetting that for a time last year, Trump’s White House was Ground Zero Ceronavirus Central Headquarters and Production Plant USA. We sense just a tiny bit of hypocrisy.

Now, what might be interesting is asking whether John Kennedy would give up his LSU football tickets this year for one invitation to Barack Obama’s birthday party. Sacrilege as it might sound, he might take the invite. They will play football next year.
