Early on Wednesday morning, we reported on the fact that the House Select Committee charged with investigating all things January 6th, including – apparently – the setup of the Big Lie – have requested a massive trove of documents from the National Archives (where documents are kept). The documents would come from the Department of Homeland Security, DOJ, among others involved in the run-up to the riot. They also include a demand for presidential documents.

We said that it was an amazingly broad and serious move, one that clearly demonstrated that they were going on offense. Today, CNN’s analysts agreed.

CNN reporter Jessica Schneider said that the request encompassed eight different departments and that the list of demands to each was “wide ranging.” She also said that the National Archives would be “key” because they hold all the documents. We have to add, the National Archives is going to listen to congress unless another branch intervenes, such as DOJ or a court.

Washington Post reporter Oliver Knox then discussed why this subpoena was so significant:

It is really stunning to see how far up the chain they’re going. It’s fairly clear that they’re looking for any signs of coordination, hidden coordination, because we had months and months and months of the president publicly casting down the election. And then on January 6th, of course, sending them down to the capitol to try to convince Mike Pence to overturn the election.

And we thank all dogs in heaven that they are looking for coordination at the highest levels. If we are to take the Reuters report from last week (and there are reasons out there that suggest we should not), the FBI is finding “scant” evidence of coordination, which is strange because the American public has significant evidence right before it’s own eyes that show significant evidence of coordination.

Regardless, we couldn’t agree more:

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?
