There has been distressingly little in the news lately about the jaw-dropping bombshell report by the Washington Post almost two weeks ago now. The Post reported that written notes exist from a meeting in which Trump categorically asked (ordered?) acting Attorney General Jeffry Rosen to issue a DOJ letter stating that they had found fraud in the last election, and leave the rest to Trump and Congress.
It was 100% apparent to Rosen that there was no substantial fraud, not of the type to which Trump was referring. Thus, Trump asked (ordered?) his own acting Attorney General to commit fraud himself (which is a conspiracy) all in an attempt to circumvent an election (“Leave the rest to me and Congress”). How could this not be bigger than Watergate? It comes as close as anything to entirely scrubbing a national election that wasn’t even that close, all because one man was willing to commit however many felonies, circumvent however many laws, norms, traditions, whatever it would take to remain in power.
And yet Reuters tells us that there is scant evidence that there was coordination on January 6th. The entire point of the letter was to give the objectors in Congress something at which to point while screaming their objections, all while the hordes played the role of hordes outside. Well, David Corn, who has followed Trump more closely than any journalist over the last six years has not been fooled and he told Ari Melber on MSNBC, in clear terms, that this blew Watergate away.
Again, we have heard far too little about this lately and the blame lies squarely on Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, Wray, Chuck Schumer, and to a lesser extent, Nancy Pelosi, who is at least doing something to try to “out” what we all saw happen before our eyes. Rawstory has the transcript from the Melber-Corn interview: Video below
“We’ve said this a lot in the last 30, 40 years, Ari, but this literally is worse than Watergate,” Corn explained. “In that instance, Richard Nixon was trying to cover up the investigation that would go into what his campaign did, a break in. And he asked the CIA to tell the FBI it was national security and they should not investigate, the FBI should call off the investigation. That’s what he tried to do.”
This is about overturning and subverting an election,” he said. “It is quite clear what he’s trying to get them to do, when they don’t have the power to do it. These notes are not audio or video, they’re bigger in a smoking gun tape in Watergate that ended Nixon’s presidency.”
