Yes, the Afghanistan evacuation got off to a poor start, a terrible start, and the MAGA right insist upon staying on that topic alone. According to the Right, the terrible start has just become “terrible.” We say this because the Fox-MAGA-Right has not acknowledged the fact that Biden’s immediate reaction, sending in thousands of troops for a temporary mission to evacuate Afghans and Americans has gone far better, to the point that they’re evacuating thousands upon thousands of people a day, enough that the civilian fleet of planes, bound by law to be ready, has already been called to Germany and places along the Arab peninsula, to take Americans and refugees to the U.S. in the relative comfort of United 777s or American, or whomever.

It is getting better, and perhaps that is why Psaki gave to Peter Doocy today without any snark, nor sly humor, only an old-fashioned scolding for an attempt to sneak a word into a question that absolutely didn’t belong, “Stranged,” as in why is Biden “stranding” Americans and Afghans in the country. Given that they’re still flying people out daily, and will for at least another week, it was an offensive word.

The National Review has a report and transcript but one should watch it below to hear the anger in her voice:

“First of all, I think it’s irresponsible to say Americans are stranded. They are not,” Psaki said. “We are committed to bringing Americans who want to come home, home,” adding that the U.S. is in touch with Americans in Afghanistan by phone, email, and other communications.

“‘There are no Americans stranded’ is the White House’s official position on what’s happening in Afghanistan right now?” Doocy countered.

“I’m just calling you out for saying that we are stranding Americans in Afghanistan when we have been very clear that we are not leaving Americans who want to return home. We are going to bring them home,” Psaki said.
