Jen Psaki’s daily chores include cleaning up Peter Doocy’s mess in the press room. Doocy’s “gotcha” questions end up spilled all over the floor like a dropped sippy cup.
But it is different when asked by The Hill‘s Alex Gangitano to address assertions made by U.S. Senators. Questions pertaining to certain Senators or Representatives match the executive branch versus the legislative branch and require a bit more finesse than Doocy. Psaki was up to the task, scolding the reporters for even bringing up something so political on such a horrific day:
PSAKI: I would say, first, this is a day where U.S. servicemembers — 12 of them — lost their lives at the hands of terr0rists. It’s not a day for politics, and we would expect that any American, whether they’re elected or not, would stand with us in our commitment to going after and fighting and killing those terr0rists wherever they live, and to honoring the memory of servicemembers. And that’s what this day is for.
Gangitano was referring to Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
Earlier in the day, Hawley said: “It is now painfully clear he has neither the will nor the capacity to lead. He must resign.”
Blackburn tweeted, within hours of the attacks, that “Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Antony Blinken, Lloyd Austin and General Milley should all resign or face impeachment and removal from office.”

Hawley needs to STFU about any sort of resignation given that he practically led a riot on the Capitol. Blackburn supported Trump through some of the worst abuses, including ignoring COVID entirely from that period after the election until it was in its worst raging point in the entire epidemic. Trump didn’t address it. He was consumed with his own reelection.
They were lucky that they only got the scolding Psaki gave them because we could see scenarios where they would get much worse.
