For those of us – and there are many – who have always fantasized about Barron growing up as a never-Trumper, he is going to have to face a fairly high hurdle. Barron will be attending a school, next year, started by the Koch brothers and comes with a price the Koch brothers would find “fair.” According to People Magazine:
Oxbridge Academy, located in Palm Beach County, was founded in 2011 by billionaire William Koch, brother to Republican mega-donors Charles and David Koch and a previous fundraiser of Trump’s campaigns.
According to its website, tuition to attend Oxbridge’s high school in the 2021-2022 school year is $34,800.
Well, it’s only the best for Mel and always has been, apparently, this applies to Barron, too. Still, People Magazine is taking this a little further than we might go with it:
The announcement signals that former First Lady Melania Trump will spend the school year in south Florida, where she, Barron and her husband have been living at their members-only Mar-a-Lago Club.
Looking at it more closely, now, perhaps we could agree with that statement, it signals that they will be living in South Florida, where they “have been” living with Donald Trump – saying nothing about the future living plans with Trump. It sure seems to us that a divorce cannot possibly be that far off into the future, it is not like he can take away the Stormy thing, the Hollywood Access Tape thing…
We cannot even be sure that Barron feels all that much for dear old sperm donor. There has been nothing to indicate that Trump actually gives a shit about Barron. Maybe, just maybe, despite the fact that Barron will attend “Conservative Education HQ” he could become a never-Trumper anyway. After all:
A source previously told PEOPLE that Mrs. Trump tried to stay in or around the same city as her husband while still maintaining her own schedule, though she did occasionally travel alone around the U.S. and internationally.
Donald is fine with that as long as she is satisfied, leaves him alone, and makes appearances when needed,” the political source said. “Melania is happiest when she is with her own family members, including her son. She is not dumb, she just knows how to handle her life to make it as fulfilling for her as possible.”
“She is not dumb,” and making life as fulfilling as possible seems to involve staying away from Trump. Maybe Barron will learn something from mom.
Now, it is a little bit odd that Barron is changing schools. Originally Barron was believed to be enrolled at one of the most elite private schools in Florida. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Barron was set to enroll at the Pine Crest School in Ft. Lauderdale.
Pine Crest is an expensive and elite institution, and children of many of South Florida’s elites in the business and legal communities go to school at its Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton campuses. Many of its graduates go to the nation’s top universities.
Why Barron is leaving one school for another is unknown.
Barron’s new school also has some questionable issues. From the Tampa Bay Times:
A few years ago, students requested that the school establish a football team, an idea the administration embraced enthusiastically. But that was when the troubles took off. An athlete who read at a third-grade level was given a full scholarship, the football team had its own locker room and the coach earned more than $200,000 a year, according to tax records and interviews with former employees.
How heartbreaking that the student only could read at a third grade level, but by giving him a full scholarship, it appears the school cares more about their football team than academics.
Additionally, in 2016 Koch “fired the head of school and declined to renew the contracts of the athletic director and the football coach. The moves came after a s@xual harassment complaint and an internal investigation into accusations of kickbacks, grade-changing, excessive spending and violations of the rules governing high school sports.”
We wish good luck to Barron at his new school. Although from the sounds of it, he probably won’t need it. Sounds like he’s a show-in for the easy A.
