Imagine the scene. It is early November, Trump has “sort of” lost the election but still thinks he won. He is so proud of himself and his “Operation Warp Speed” that he has had every syringe labeled in gold, “THE TRUMP VACCINE” “Brought to you by Comcast,” or Delta Airlines (He would definitely have sold the advertising rights to the syringes) and in front of a bank of cameras and microphones, Trump rolls up a specially designed sleeve (so no one can see his arm fat) and gets the vaccine from Dr. Fauci, then declares it the best vaccine ever developed by mankind.
How many lives would have been saved? 100,000? 200,000? What have we lost now, 616,000? Would we have saved 300,000? When Biden put his hand on the Bible it was close to 400,000 dead. Our inventory of the vaccine right now is outpacing demand.
Would 250,000 people still be alive today if Trump – in mid-November, gotten over his fear of needles long enough to get vaccinated? Are we underestimating it? Former Health and Human S3rvices Sec. Alex Azar know this:
But we did not predict the politicization of vaccines that has led so many Republicans to hold back.
As of mid-July, 43 percent of Republicans said that they have not been vaccinated and definitely or probably wouldn’t be, versus 10 percent of Democrats, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
I’m glad former President Trump got vaccinated, but it would have been even better for him to have done so on national television so that his supporters could see how much trust and confidence he has in what is arguably one of his greatest accomplishment.
No, it was never a possibility and there are several reasons, all are speculation. One, he simply didn’t want people to see his arm fat. Two, he hated “looking like” a patient who needed help. Or Three, he’s scared of needles, and before you toss out the third possibility, remember that this is a guy who’s such a germaphobe that his Diet Coke must be served a certain way.
Hundreds of thousands alive today, had we just…well, let’s save all we can now.
