Newsmax is in a classic dilemma, damned if it does, damned if it doesn’t. Trump giveth and Trump taketh away. Trump is mad that Newmax is not covering the only thing Trump wants to talk about (probably for the rest of his life), the fact that he “won in a landslide,” and Newsmax needs to talk to Trump, but Newsmax has already settled one lawsuit for Election lies and hardly needs to bring on more trouble.

Regardless, Trump isn’t happy about the dynamic. According to Mediaite, the latest interview brought the issue front and center:

As Trump once again repeated his baseless statements about the election being “stolen” from him, he remarked, “I know your network doesn’t cover it too much. You may cut this little segment out, and that’s okay.”

Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt assured him, “We’re not going to cut anything out, we promise you that.”

Okay, from a legal perspective, we can see that. We could see someone in court say, “We just invited a former president on the air, we couldn’t predict exactly what he’d say beforehand, how can we be held liable. Sue him!” (As everyone already has).

Trump didn’t seem to bothered. He cannot make too big a deal out of it, having lost his social media outlets, he needs all the help he can get right now and has to be thankful for the appearance.

“But that’s okay if you do,” Trump said, “because people consider it to be a little bit controversial.”

Actually, sane people don’t see it as controversial at all. They only see it as entirely irresponsible, evil, and insecure on your part.

He went on to call this “the single biggest issue for Republicans,” but said “nobody likes to talk about it” because “they get banned from Facebook and Twitter.

It is the single biggest issue for Republicans because Trump says it is the single biggest issue for Republicans. Other than Trump’s threats to pull his support, it is the least “biggest” issue for Republicans right now. Keep talking 2020, Don, keep talking 2020. You will soon be the only guy that wants to talk or hear about it and you’re digging your own political grave.

Meanwhile, Newsmax will let Trump do all the talking and they’ll do all the listening.
