Before we address Junior’s comments about the criminal charges that have come down, the type that he calls “Banana Republic stuff,” we would like to educate him as to the real characteristics of a banana republic.
In banana republics, the leader believes he’s all-powerful, that he gets to determine what the law is or isn’t, the dictator decides to prosecute his enemies (Lock her up!), he lets his friends out of jail (Hi, Mike!).
A dictator purges the government such that only loyalists remain. A banana republic fascist fires people for speaking their minds and testifying as to what they see. Banana republic dictators have no problem using paramilitary forces against their own people, they stand triumphantly on balconies as if they own the world.
And when the people choose another leader, he attempts a violent overthrow of the legitimate government. Once it fails, the dictator remains the self-proclaimed leader in exile, awaiting his chance to regain power, moving his paramilitary loyalists around, making threats.
That is a banana republic.
But Junior thinks that holding presidents accountable for crimes is only for third-world junta banana republics. Junior might want to talk to France and Italy, both countries considered “first world” democratic countries that have thrown former presidents in jail, and – perhaps, Israel, which seems right on the verge.
Here is Junior:
“They’re saying $1.7 million over 15 years,” said Trump of the unreported perks Weisselberg allegedly received. “But it’s not $1.7 million. That’s income. The taxable portion of that to New York state is eight percent. That’s $136,000 over 16 years. That’s ten grand a year. Half of that – because my father is a good guy – he paid for this guy’s grandchildren’s education. Our tax experts say that’s not even taxable.
Nice fcking work, jackass. You just admitted to a crime. Your argument is that it’s such a small crime that it really shouldn’t matter. We also are of the belief that Junior did not accurately describe the numbers. After all, he didn’t accurately describe his father. No one ever accused Trump of being a “nice guy.” Besides, we all know that Weisselberg is nothing but bait. The big fish took big risks or he wouldn’t have spent hundreds of thousands going to the SCOTUS to hide records about paying grandkids’ tuition.
We don’t seem to recall Junior crying and screaming about the injustice to Michael Cohen, who was sentenced to three years in prison. It does seem a bit political to the Trumps, too.
“It’s a disgrace that they spent millions of dollars and years,” he said, “instead of prosecuting actual murderous thugs on the streets of New York, they go after their political enemies. And if we’re gonna pretend for one second this is anything other than a witch hunt that they can get away with, because where do you go, Jesse? To another leftist judge in New York who says, ‘You know what? I don’t care. Go after your political enemies.’ This is going on in America right now. This banana republic stuff.”
Actually, Junior, no one dropped murder cases in order to prosecute the Trumps. Again, if it is all a witch hunt, why the “millions of dollars and years spent” hiding those financial records, Ace?
Jackass.
