Hey, don’t blame Democrats or liberals. It was Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota that got this Twitter wave rolling. We have already covered the Maga MAGA mad tweet in which Kristi Noem may or may not have photoshopped a picture of fireworks going off over Mount Rushmore as “Trump’s America” versus some sparklers as Biden’s America.

Here is the tweet, and we’ll get to the fun below:

Maybe there is some truth to that. In Trump’s America, the goal was to get all kinds of fancy rich fireworks that the regular folks could look on with awe but, only look. In Biden’s America, everyone gets their own little bit of light, a spark, hope.

Alright, we’ll stop. The tweet was stupid enough without adding our own ridiculous analogy. But Twitter seized an opportunity and got “In Trump’s America” trending big, some were hilarious, some were appropriately angry, some were as penetrating as any we’ve perused in a long time. (And we end up reading a lot of threads.)

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

This reminds us, in one of Reagan’s last speeches as president, he extolled the virtues of immigration and the need for the U.S. to continue to open its borders from people all over the world, indeed he said it was necessary to keep the country strong. Republicans have changed a bit.

There is a lot of truth to this but as also want to be very clear that in 2021, the “confederacy” is not so conveniently bordered by states and instead is much worse. There are areas in northern Idaho and eastern Montana that rival anything down south. Additionally, there are small pockets in “confederate land” that feel like southern California, I found one.
