Even those who don’t live in the southeast need to start making a point of reading AL.com. It gained in stature during the Roy Moore candidacy when it continued to dig up sources that likely doomed his race. But it has always been stuffed with great articles by great writers that provide insight not found in many other places and is thus used by Maddow, Morning Joe, and several others.

Trump’s new spokesperson Liz Harrington knows the reach of AL.com and tweeted a link to an article on Trump’s rally on Saturday. Unfortunately for Liz, she did what team Trump often does, evaluated something at a shockingly superficial level, which resulted in her humiliation just one level below.

Here’s Liz this morning, proudly flashing the “big news.” All one need to do is read the line right below the picture to see the problem.

Clearly, Liz Harrington wanted to emphasize that Trump brought a record crowd to the Sarasota fairgrounds. We aren’t exactly sure why that, in and of itself, would be a point of pride. For all we know, Trump broke the record set by the Loverboy reunion tour in 2015, when 2250 crazed 65-year-olds showed up to rock out to horrible music.

But notice the little subtitle? We find it interesting to ask whether Liz noticed, the one that says there has been no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would have affected the outcome. AL.com even used the proper term “affected,” which we find highly impressive since we rarely do. Maybe Liz didn’t know what “affected” means.

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

The article is littered with more truth: Though there has never been any substantial evidence of voter fraud that would have overturned Trump’s 2020 defeat as Trump has claimed, supporters in the crowd maintained that “Trump won.”

And: Without evidence, Trump continued to peddle lies about the 2020 presidential election, calling it a “totally rigged and dishonest election.” There has been no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would have affected the outcome of the election.

We think Harrington is just the kind of communications director that Trump needs, one that’s more honest, more willing to confront the truth, someone who believes the American people can handle facts and make their own decisions, no more of this fake news stuff.

We hope she links to AL.com more often and that others stop by, too.
