Fox News host Gillian Turner tossed a little ice water on two of her overly excitable Trump-loving colleagues Wednesday by pointing out that their analysis of the former president’s weird class-action lawsuits targeting Big Tech may be colored by the fact that they “love” Trump “like family,” The Daily Beast reports.
At the same time, Turner also mocked Trump for his lawsuit and said it was “self-serving”, which of course it is.
Earlier that day, the twice-impeached former president announced at his New Jersey golf club that he was filing lawsuits against the CEOs of Twitter, Facebook, and Google over his widespread ban on social media. The complaints call for the reinstatement of his accounts, punitive damages, and demand that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act be thrown out by the courts as “an unconstitutional delegation of authority.”
And of course, while speaking about this Trump was full of his usual bombast, calling the lawsuits “the biggest class-action ever filed because thousands of people want to join.” But a former Facebook official described the sitch a bit more succinctly to Daily Beast, saying it was “a desperate fundraising appeal disguised as a lawsuit.”
Team Trump inadvertently and very nearly confirmed that by sending a text message to supporters requesting money.
Of course, the RNC never misses the chance to scam people when it has the chance either.

But as they were all sitting around discussing the lawsuit on Fox News’s midday show Outnumbered, the Trumpified panelists Jesse Watters and Kayleigh McEnany were thrilled about the lawsuits.
Watters, who’s supped with Trump at the White House in the past, was all a-gush over the “very presidential presentation” at Bedminster, even claiming he forgot “who was president all of a sudden.” He compared Trump to an “avenger” who is suing Big Tech on “behalf of the American people.”
Then he blamed social media platforms for conducting a “conspiracy” to bring Trump down in the days leading up to the election by suppressing “the Republican October surprise” against President Joe Biden. Watters specifically mentioned the much-belabored Hunter Biden laptop story.
“They are engaged in a ton of anti-competitive practices, anti-business practices, and need to be held accountable. That’s what the president is doing,” Watters said. “They just ripped this guy’s vocal cords out of his throat in a very critical time in our nation’s history.”
Jeez, I wish someone had “ripped” Trump’s vocal cords out waaaaaaaay before that. Imagine not having to listen to all his boasting, his racism, his insulting good people, and all his yammering.
Wouldn’t that have been lovely.
Anyway. On the other side of this ridiculousness, we have Kayleigh McEnany, who’s now a permanent co-host on Outnumbered, who heaped praise on her former boss for bringing the lawsuit, claiming the suit “lays out well.” She asserted this is because Big Tech companies are acting as arms of the government and not as private companies. McEnany insisted that Trump was “giving a megaphone to thousands of Americans across the country” and “fighting for everyday Americans.”
Enter Turner. And that ice water.
“Former President Trump kind of beat a dead horse a little today when he brought up Section 230 again,” she said. “During the last months of his presidency, we heard over and over again that Section 230, from him, is a special favor that Congress essentially grants to social media giants. It’s not enough to rejigger the law, it’s not enough to reword it, he wants a complete and total repeal of that section. He put that on the line, Congress did not go for it, even when his party was in the majority.”
She also noted that in the six months since Trump left office, Congress hasn’t exactly rushed in to “rein in the power of Big Tech. Then she turned her attention to Watters and McEnany and dinged them for their Trump worship.
“I think this lawsuit’s a little more self-serving than maybe Jesse and Kayleigh laid out for us a moment ago,” Turner said. “We know you love the guy, the former president, like family. I think this is more about his political prospects going into the next election.”
“He wants to keep this issue front and center. He opens, by the way, not by saying it’s for the American people, but by saying ‘I want to fight back because they banned me after January 6 when they unilaterally declared me a public safety threat.’ I think it’s about a personal beef with the companies, but some good things may come of it despite that.”

Turner is not wrong here. Trump is acting out of his own self-interest and let’s face it, when he riled up that mob on January 6, he was a public safety threat. I don’t think anyone can expect McEnany to be rational about this, considering all the lies she told on Trump’s behalf when she was White House press secretary.
If she got owned here, she had it coming.
