At what point will the GOP do something about this woman? We will answer our own question. Never.

We believe that Marjorie Taylor Greene remains a member of Congress in the Republican party (though not serving on committees) because Trump protects her. Marjorie Taylor Greene attended a White House meeting in late December of 2020, one that involved (in her own words) planning the January 6th protest. Marjorie knows something and Trump will ensure nothing will happen to her.

But Marjorie doesn’t know which law enforcement officer was forced to confront Ashli Babbit and shoot. MTG appeared with Greg Kelly on Newsmax last night and swung the conversation around from vaccinations and Nazis to the person she refers to as a martyr and a patriot: From Mediaite:

Ever since Babbitt was k*lled while she and others tried to breach the House Chamber where lawmakers were sheltering in place, Trump supporters have attempted to depict her as a political martyr, and the former president has taken to pushing conspiracy theories about her death. As Kelly asked Green about this, the congresswoman agreed with him that she probably would’ve been friends with Babbitt, lauding her as a “passionate patriot.”

All these questions and yet they voted against a thorough investigation.

Greene added that she has been in contact with the attorney for Babbitt’s family, and is demanding that the name of the officer who shot her be released to the public. Greene then drew a comparison between Babbitt and Floyd, whose murder by a police officer sparked a worldwide movement against racial injustice about a year ago.

So Marj isn’t just asking questions, she is actively working with the Babbit family attorney. One wonders whether the lawmaker might hear things to pass along? Just a guess.

And then the worst:

“If this country can demand justice for someone like George Floyd,” Greene said, “then we can certainly demand justice for Ashli Babbitt and everyone deserves to know who k*lled her…We need to know who it is.”

There is a reason we do not know the name. It could be an intelligence service officer, it could be a Secret Service agent, we do not know. But we know that the government has a reason. We suspect (but cannot know with certainty) that the officer’s name will be revealed in the lawsuit to the parties and kept under a strict seal by the judge if the government persuades the judge that releasing the name to the public poses a danger to others or higher government investigations.

But comparing Babbitt’s fate to George Floyd’s is outrageous. Babbitt was in the midst of an attempted coup and posed a threat to both law enforcement and elected officials, she broke into a building, she was warned, and warned, and warned. Meanwhile, we all know how and why George Floyd lost his life. There is no comparison, except to the MTG’s of the world.
