This is absolutely shameful.

As much sh*t as Florida gets from around the country, and on this website, the state deserves so much better. Florida is one of the most eclectic, heterogeneous, gorgeous, and threatened states in this country.

From an upper panhandle that might as well be called “South Georgia,” or “East Alabama,” to the snowbird wonderland of central Florida, to the almost Caribbean culture of Miami, it really is one of the true “unique” states in the country and it is nowhere near as conservative as its crazed leaders.

It is also old. And why not? If you’ve worked hard and saved, why endure winters? Why not sit out in the sun in Fort Myers (or the equivalent) during January?

But now with the COVID delta variant, Florida is once again one of the hardest-hit COVID states and no one bears more blame than its governor “Ron-Don Santis.” DeSantis is so consumed with pleasing the poor MAGAs that he’ll go along with the rejection of all things science.

(This, despite the fact that some of the first vaccines in the state mysteriously ended up in the hands of his wealthiest donors. It seems DeSantis is just fine with Fauci money.)

And speaking of money, how else does one explain this?

Is that supposed to be funny?

Yes, we have lots of fun with the “Florida man” meme. (For those of you without the benefit of a Zoomer in the house, put “Florida man” and your birthday in Google, and see what pops up. That’s the game).

But these poor people deserve better than this, and by that we do mean the “poor people.” The people on the job, that work, and drink Coors Light at night, that vote for Trump because “everyone votes for Trump, ‘cept p*ssies,” and think that the vaccine is dangerous, but COVID is the sniffles, even that guy deserves better than this.

Sorry, Florida.
